Musiyiwa Caring Home

WHAT STARTED AT A CHILD’S JUMP ZONE BIRTHDAY PARTY…
In 2017, CCI’s founder Robert Stella took his young son to a birthday party at the last minute. It was there that he met the birthday boy’s grandfather visiting from Zimbabwe, Richard Musiyiwa.
Robert had just received a call into missions and Pastor Musiyiwa had built a grassroots life-changing ministry in the region of his hometown – preaching, planting and discipling churches, feeding the children, taking in orphans into his own home and providing for every basic need he came across for over fifty years. He had become highly-respected and well-known in his region and more importantly – had made the name of Jesus well-known.
Robert and Pastor Musiyiwa talked for hours only once – but those hours changed Robert’s life.
TURNED INTO A LIFE-CHANGING CONNECTION AND A COUPLE WATER WELLS…
The birthday party ended, the kids lost touch over the years and Pastor Musiyiwa passed away during COVID leaving a legacy and a ministry behind that his family carried on with only financial support from immediate family in the states.
Years later, God divinely orchestrated a reconnection with Robert and the Musiyiwa family. Their greatest need was clean water and God used Robert to facilitate fundraising and oversee logistics to have two wells built in two communities.
Their next greatest need was a home for the increasing number of orphans. The Musiyiwa family already owned a plot land that they dreamed for decades to build an orphanage on – they just needed funding and someone to take the helm.
Again, God’s provision was immediate and miraculous. It only took one round of texting for a donor to commit to over $100,000 to get Phase 1 of the orphanage nearly complete.
AND ALMOST OVERNIGHT BECAME AN ORPHANAGE…
On July 16, 2025, CounterCulture International and our partners-on-the ground, the Musiyiwa family, broke ground on our very first orphanage, the Musiyiwa Anokunda Caring Home in Chinhoyi, Zimbabwe. Phase 1 (the first building) of the orphanage is scheduled to be completed and dedicated in January 2026.
BUT THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING.
We’re expanding the vision with Phase 2 as God has opened the door for us to secure additional land so we can build a second facility – giving the girls’ and boys’ their own dedicated spaces.
To make this possible, we’re raising an additional $300,000 to purchase the new property, construct the second building and ensure long-term sustainability. This includes ongoing needs like food, maintenance, upgrades, living wages for our caretakers, and tuition for the children’s education — the essentials that keep this mission thriving year after year.
And as He has done time and time again, we are believing that God will once again provide — miraculously and abundantly.
